Jen Shah Granted Dec. 10 Prison Release After BOP Sentence Reductions

Post-release placement remains undecided under BOP policy, with restitution and supervision still ahead.

Overview

  • The Federal Bureau of Prisons approved a Dec. 10 release for the former Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member following multiple reductions tied to good behavior, prison programming and restitution progress.
  • Shah pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in July 2022 and began a 78‑month sentence in February 2023, serving about 33 months before the newly approved date.
  • Under BOP policy it has not yet been determined whether she will go directly home or to a residential reentry center to complete the remainder of her sentence under supervision.
  • She was ordered to pay $6.5 million in restitution in a case prosecutors said defrauded numerous victims, many over age 55; she apologized at sentencing and has begun making payments.
  • Her manager says the decision allows a holiday reunion with family, while the BOP declined to detail plans and its public database still lists an Aug. 30, 2026 projected release date.
