Jeff Ulbrich Returns to Falcons as Defensive Coordinator

The former Jets interim head coach reunites with Atlanta's Raheem Morris after a challenging 2024 season.

Jeff Ulbrich, previously the New York Jets' defensive coordinator and interim head coach, has been hired as the Atlanta Falcons' defensive coordinator.
Ulbrich has a longstanding history with the Falcons, having served as linebackers coach and interim defensive coordinator between 2015 and 2020 under former head coach Dan Quinn.
Raheem Morris, now the Falcons' head coach, worked closely with Ulbrich during their previous tenure in Atlanta and has brought him back to revamp the team's struggling defense.
The Falcons' defense ranked 23rd in both total defense and points allowed in 2024, leading to the firing of former defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake after one season.
Ulbrich's tenure as Jets interim head coach in 2024 ended with a 3-9 record, but his prior success as a defensive coordinator includes leading top-five defensive units in 2022 and 2023.
