Overview
- Jeep plans to reintroduce the Cherokee in late 2025 after ending production of the previous generation in early 2023 following six straight years of U.S. sales declines.
- The new Cherokee will be offered with a conventional gasoline engine or Jeep’s first self-developed non-plug hybrid powertrain since the 2008 Durango and Aspen models.
- The SUV adopts a more upright, boxy silhouette reminiscent of a scaled-down Grand Cherokee and is expected to include adaptive cruise control and other driver-assist features.
- Built on the STLA Large platform shared with the all-electric Wagoneer S and Recon, the Cherokee’s production is expected to shift to Mexico rather than the idled Illinois facility.
- Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf says the Cherokee will feature competitive pricing to slot between the Compass and Grand Cherokee and strengthen the brand’s mainstream lineup.
