Jeep Unveils 2026 Recon, a Trail-Rated Electric SUV Starting at $65,000

Production starts in early 2026 in Toluca with launches in the U.S. and Canada first.

Overview

  • The mid-size Recon uses Stellantis’ STLA Large platform with dual-motor AWD rated at 650 hp and 620 lb-ft, a roughly 100 kWh battery, an up-to-250-mile estimate, and a 0–60 mph time as quick as 3.6 seconds.
  • Off-road hardware includes an electronic locking rear differential, Selec-Terrain traction management, Selec-Speed control, and a Moab launch trim with 33-inch tires, about 9.1 inches of ground clearance, and 33.8/33.1/23.3-degree approach, departure, and breakover angles.
  • The Recon is the only fully electric SUV designed with removable doors plus rear-quarter and swing-gate glass that come off without tools, and it adds a 12.3-inch cluster, a 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, and Jeep’s Trails Offroad app.
  • Powertrain details include 250 kW front and rear electric drive modules, a 15:1 rear and 11:1 front final drive, and front axle disconnects to improve efficiency, with steel underbody shielding and DC fast charging from 5% to 80% in about 28 minutes.
  • Jeep confirms a starting price of about $65,000 before destination, initial assembly at the Toluca plant in Mexico, Moab as the first trim to arrive, and Tesla Supercharger access via a NACS adapter rather than a native port at launch.
