Jeep Revives Cherokee for 2026 With Hybrid-Only Power and 37 MPG

Overview

  • The 2026 Cherokee launches first in Limited and Overland trims late this year, with base and Laredo models due in early 2026, starting at $36,995 plus $1,995 destination.
  • A new 1.6-liter turbo-four paired with two electric motors and a roughly 1.0–1.08 kWh battery delivers 210 hp, 230 lb-ft, an estimated 37 mpg combined, and more than 500 miles per tank.
  • Built on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform, the SUV grows by 4.7 inches overall with a 6.4-inch longer wheelbase and offers about 30% more cargo space (33.6 cu ft, 68 cu ft seats folded).
  • Active Drive I 4x4 with rear-axle disconnect is standard, with Selec-Terrain modes, 8 inches of ground clearance, approach/departure angles of 19.6°/29.4°, and about 3,500 pounds of towing; a trail-rated variant is teased for the near future.
  • Final assembly is in Toluca, Mexico, with the hybrid engine built in Dundee, Michigan, and every trim includes a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, Level 2 Active Driving Assist, and a 10-year Connect One subscription.
