JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Starts Wednesday as NTA Issues Last-Minute Exam-Day Rules

Fresh NTA guidance emphasizes early reporting, biometric checks, strict dress rules, mandatory submission of admit cards to protect exam integrity.

Overview

  • The National Testing Agency will hold Session 1 on January 21, 22, 23, 24, 28 and 29 with Paper 1 in two daily shifts and Paper 2 on January 29 in a single 9:00–12:30 slot.
  • Admit cards for January 21–24 are out and hall tickets for January 28–29 will be released soon on jeemain.nta.nic.in; candidates must carry a printed admit card and an original photo ID.
  • Entry closes at the stated gate-closing time with biometric verification required; those who did not register via Aadhaar must report about an hour early and ensure Aadhaar authentication is not locked.
  • Centres will enforce bans on electronic devices, bags and metallic accessories with a simple dress code advised; diabetic candidates may carry sugar tablets, select fruits and a transparent water bottle.
  • Candidates must deposit their filled admit cards and rough work sheets in drop boxes or risk non‑evaluation, and January 23 exams at West Bengal centres are postponed with a revised date pending.
