Overview
- Jean Smart won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Season 5 of Hacks, completing a five-for-five sweep of the category that concluded at the 2026 ceremony.
- The win, announced Monday, makes Smart the first performer to take home an acting Emmy for every season of a single series.
- With this trophy Smart now has eight acting Emmys in total, tying the all-time acting record held by Julia Louis‑Dreyfus and Cloris Leachman.
- Hacks ended its planned five-season arc earlier this year and its final season set a single-year record for a comedy series with 24 Emmy nominations.
- Coverage also notes Smart’s public relationship with actor Joe Pacheco, who appeared with her on red carpets and had a small role in Hacks’ final season, while Smart has spoken publicly about the 2021 death of her husband Richard Gilliland.
