J.D. Power’s First U.S. Airport Lounge Rankings Put Amex Centurion at No. 1

The benchmark underscores lounges’ growing sway over where people fly.

Overview

  • American Express Centurion Lounge led with a score of 782, followed by Capital One Lounges and Delta Sky Clubs tied at 773, with Chase Sapphire at 771, Admirals Club at 753, Alaska Lounge at 748, and United Club at 705 against an average of 758.
  • The study surveyed 1,430 U.S. lounge users in September and October, rating eight factors including value, staff, food and beverage, cleanliness, amenities, access convenience, ambiance, and Wi‑Fi on a 1,000‑point scale.
  • Lounge availability heavily shapes behavior, with 47% planning routes around access and 82% saying it influences their choice of airline.
  • Premium credit cards are now the most common entry path, cited by 34% of users, compared with 21% via elite status and 18% via standalone memberships.
  • J.D. Power notes soaring demand and crowding are pushing airports and operators to add capacity and borrow lounge design elements for public terminal spaces.
