JCPenney to Close Pleasanton’s Stoneridge Shopping Center Store on Feb. 22, 2026

The closure follows JCPenney’s inability to extend its lease at the two-story anchor space.

Overview

  • The company confirmed the Pleasanton store’s final day of operation will be Feb. 22, 2026.
  • JCPenney said it cannot continue the current lease terms for the site and has not found a suitable nearby alternative.
  • The shutdown will leave six Bay Area locations remaining: Hayward, Concord, Antioch, Fairfield, San Jose and Santa Rosa.
  • Mall owner 300 Venture Group said it is close to finalizing a lease with a new-to-market tenant for the vacated space.
  • JCPenney reports roughly 650 stores nationwide after post-2020 bankruptcy downsizing, and the number of Pleasanton jobs affected has not been disclosed.
