Overview
- MLB announced Chisholm as the eighth and final participant in the T-Mobile Home Run Derby to be held July 14 at Atlanta’s Truist Park.
- He becomes the first Yankees player selected for the Derby since Aaron Judge’s appearance and win in 2017.
- Since returning from the injured list on June 3, Chisholm has slashed .316/.388/.640 with 10 home runs and 26 RBIs in 31 games, including a two-homer night against the Mariners.
- Chisholm joins Ronald Acuña Jr., Cal Raleigh, James Wood, Byron Buxton, Oneil Cruz, Junior Caminero and Brent Rooker in an eight-player field of premier sluggers.
- Manager Aaron Boone backed Chisholm’s participation as a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity and the infielder said his stepfather, Geron Sands, will pitch to him in the Derby.
