• Writing to Governor Acharya Devvrat, the NCP (SP) leader asked for a three-day sitting to address widespread losses from September’s heavy rains and floods.
• Patil said rainfall intensity rose over the past week, reporting overflowing rivers, ruined farmland, livestock deaths and multiple fatalities across the state.
• After visiting villages in Solapur, Dharashiv and Beed, he called for immediate assessments and a substantial cash grant for landless agricultural workers who have lost income.
• He warned that destroyed crops and washed-away topsoil will hinder recovery for months and pressed the state to announce timely financial assistance.
• NCP chief Sharad Pawar separately urged comprehensive relief and rehabilitation, including flexible damage surveys, support for re-sowing and infrastructure repairs, easier crop-insurance claims and loan relief.
