Overview

  • The 2025 awards span seven categories, from basic research and economics to environmental protection, new technologies and entrepreneurial revelation.
  • Nuria López-Bigas, Silvia de San José Llongueras, Victoria Reyes García and María Jesús Vicent D’Ocon are among the four female laureates recognized this year.
  • Female candidacies rose by 25% to account for more than a third of the 226 applicants.
  • Each laureate receives €100,000 and will be formally presented with their medal at an autumn ceremony in Valencia.
  • The international jury of around 100 experts, including 20 Nobel Prize winners, issued a declaration urging President Donald Trump to reverse recent cuts to U.S. research funding.
