Jason Day Withdraws From Players Championship Due to Illness

The former world No. 1 golfer and 2016 Players Champion was replaced by Danny Walker just an hour before his scheduled tee time.

Jason Day, ranked No. 33 in the world, withdrew from The Players Championship on Thursday morning citing illness.
Day, a 13-time PGA Tour winner, was set to compete at TPC Sawgrass after a strong T-8 finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week.
This marks a setback for the 37-year-old Australian, who has battled back injuries in recent years, once dropping as low as 175th in the rankings.
Danny Walker has been added to the tournament field in Day's place, joining 26 players making their debut at the prestigious event.
The Players Championship, featuring a $25 million purse, is scheduled to run from March 13–16 at the Players Stadium Course.
