Overview
- Japan’s seasonally adjusted effective job-offer ratio declined by 0.02 point from July to 1.20, according to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
- The new job-offer ratio edged down to 2.15 and the full-time effective job-offer ratio dipped to 1.00, both down 0.02 point on the month.
- Seasonally adjusted effective job openings fell 1.0% from July, while active jobseekers rose 0.7%.
- Raw new openings were 6.2% lower than a year earlier, with sharper declines in life-related services and amusement (−16.1%), wholesale and retail (−12.7%), accommodation and food services (−10.7%), education (−9.4%), and manufacturing (−6.7%).
- Regional results were uneven, with Fukui highest by place of work at 1.86 and by place of receipt at 1.71, while Kanagawa and Osaka were lowest by place of work at 1.01 and Kanagawa lowest by place of receipt at 0.82.
