Japan’s Famitsu Charts: Metal Gear Solid Delta Debuts at No. 1 as Switch 2 Leads Hardware

Famitsu’s physical-only charts highlight a hardware–software split in Japan.

Overview

  • Konami’s Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater opened as the top new single SKU with 63,585 PS5 retail copies for the week of August 25–31.
  • Nintendo’s Switch 2 was the best-selling console at 41,957 units for the week, bringing its reported lifetime total to 1,934,080.
  • Bandai Namco’s Super Robot Wars Y posted the biggest combined boxed launch with 91,501 units across Switch (60,532) and PS5 (30,969).
  • Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar started with 64,734 combined retail sales, split between Switch (46,586) and Switch 2 (18,148), while Kirby’s Switch 2 edition sold 12,174.
  • Family hardware totals showed legacy Switch models at 20,589 units versus 8,304 for the PS5 family and 389 for Xbox Series, with figures covering physical retail estimates only.
