Japanese Icon Miho Nakayama Found Dead at 54

The celebrated J-pop singer and award-winning actress was discovered in her Tokyo home, with the cause of death still under investigation.

Miho Nakayama, a prominent figure in Japanese pop culture during the 1980s and 1990s, was found deceased in her bathtub at her Tokyo residence on December 6, 2024.
The 54-year-old had canceled a scheduled Christmas concert in Osaka earlier that day due to health concerns, according to her management team.
Best known for her dual role in the critically acclaimed 1995 film 'Love Letter,' Nakayama earned multiple Best Actress awards and international recognition for her performance.
In addition to her acting accolades, Nakayama released 22 studio albums and achieved eight No. 1 singles, solidifying her status as one of Japan’s most beloved J-pop stars.
She is survived by her son, who is in the custody of her ex-husband, with her management stating that investigations into her cause of death are ongoing.
