  • Japan’s mixed diving squad of Reo Nishida, Jo Sakai, Rin Kaneto and Sayaka Mikami secured a historic bronze with 409.65 points in Singapore’s World Aquatics Championships mixed team event.
  • Sorato Shimizu of Seiryo High School clocked an U18 world best of 10.00 seconds to win the men’s 100m at the Hiroshima Inter-High.
  • Hiroshima Minami’s Mana Matsumoto topped the women’s 100m in 11.42 seconds and Rin Kubo of Higashi Osaka Daikeiai led Japanese runners with third in the women’s 1500m.
  • Karina Yonekawa of Seibudai High claimed the women’s shot put crown with a personal best of 14.29 meters, the only athlete over 14 meters in the final.
  • Organisers have scrapped preliminaries for races over 1500m and installed cooling stations and misting fans at the Inter-High to protect athletes from temperatures exceeding 30°C.
