Japan Reports Record 3,770 Disability Abuse Cases in FY2024 as Family Abuse Claims Three Lives

Officials say the rise reflects greater willingness to report concerns to local authorities.

  • Osaka Prefecture reported 2,024 consultations related to caregiver abuse with 299 cases determined, 481 consultations tied to facility staff with 106 cases determined, and 69 employer-related consultations across 48 workplaces.
