- The government’s November 3 list comprises 2 Tokiwa Grand Cordon recipients, 935 in the Order of the Rising Sun, and 3,026 in the Order of the Sacred Treasure.
 - Notable awardees include former vice finance minister Toshiro Muto (Order of the Sacred Treasure, Grand Cordon), writer Setsuko Tsumura (Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon), game designer Yuji Horii, and manga artist Go Nagai (both Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays).
