Japan Mobility Show 2023 Showcases Electric Sports Car Concepts from Major Automakers
New Car Concepts Include Mazda with Rotary EV System, Zero-emission Off-Roading Mitsubishi, Subaru's Electric Sports Car, and Suzuki's Exploration of Electric Mobility
- Mazda has showcased its concept sports car, the ICONIC SP, at the Japan Mobility Show 2023. The vehicle goes beyond the traditional as it employs a rotary EV system powertrain, enabling the engine to burn a variety of fuels, including hydrogen, and achieve carbon neutrality.
- Daihatsu has introduced unique compact vehicles, including a 'mini passenger' vehicle called the Me:MO and an electric convertible called the OSANPO. These vehicles are designed to enhance the user's slow-paced, natural experience rather than focus on speed.
- Mitsubishi's showpieces included adventurous pick-up concepts as well as an Electrified Crossover MPV concept named the D:X. This versatile concept merges features of traditional off-roaders and minivans and can accommodate up to seven seats.
- Subaru has demonstrated its vision for land and air travel with their Sport Mobility Concept and Air Mobility Concept. The former is a rugged electric sports car of the future, while the latter is a two-seater passenger drone currently undergoing trials.
- Suzuki exhibited a wide array of electric mobility solutions, ranging from compact commercial vehicles to delivery robots, motorized wheelchairs, and cargo bikes. The most notable among them were the ultra-compact mini wagon EV, the eWX, and the SkyDrive concept, a multi-rotor flying car.
