January Launch Set for First Vande Bharat Sleeper on GuwahatiHowrah Route

Overview

  • Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inspected the inaugural rake in New Delhi and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag it off in the second half of January, with the exact date to be announced.
  • Two certified 16-coach trainsets are ready and are being moved to Guwahati and Howrah for the overnight inaugural service departing in the evening and arriving the next morning.
  • Tickets are priced at about ₹2,300 for 3AC, ₹3,000 for 2AC and ₹3,600 for 1AC, with regional cuisines served on board and a no-food option available during booking.
  • The train seats 823 across 11 three-tier, four two-tier and one first-class AC coaches, is designed for 180 km/h, and will initially operate at roughly 120–130 km/h after CRS-supervised trials hit 180 km/h on Kota–Nagda.
  • Key features include KAVACH automatic train protection, CCTV, emergency talk-back, improved suspension and noise reduction, as production ramps toward about 12 sleeper rakes in service by year-end.
