Janis Joplin's 1920s Pool Table Up for Auction

The table, kept in her Larkspur home since 1969, could fetch up to $20,000.

  • Janis Joplin's 1920s-era Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co. Monarch Cushion 9' pool table is up for auction on her 81st birthday.
  • The pool table, which Joplin kept in her Larkspur, California home since 1969, has remained in the same room since her death in 1970.
  • The starting bid for the pool table is $2,500, with expectations that it will fetch between $10,000 and $20,000.
  • Joplin, a lifelong billiards lover, was photographed playing on the table for the August 6, 1970, issue of Rolling Stone, a copy of which is included in the auction lot.
  • In November, Julien's auctioned off a ring once belonging to Joplin for $76,200.
