Overview

  • On July 16, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins sued frontman Perry Farrell in Los Angeles Superior Court seeking at least $10 million for assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract.
  • They accuse Farrell of punching Navarro onstage at Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion and again backstage, claiming his actions derailed their North American reunion tour and suspended a planned album.
  • Hours later Farrell filed a countersuit in the same court alongside his wife Etty Lau Farrell and Wilton Hilton Inc., alleging the other members subjected him to a years-long campaign of onstage bullying and defamation.
  • In his complaint, Farrell denies throwing a backstage punch and contends Navarro and Avery physically assaulted him and his wife after the show.
  • Navarro has since declared that the Boston altercation “forever destroyed the band’s life,” ruling out any future Jane’s Addiction reunion.
