Overview
- Jan Suraaj leaders submitted a memorandum at Raj Bhavan seeking Samrat Choudhary’s removal and said they have written to the Prime Minister, warning they will move court if no action follows.
- Prashant Kishor alleges the Deputy Chief Minister was an accused in the Tarapur killings and avoided trial by presenting a minor’s age, which he says conflicts with Choudhary’s 2020 election affidavit.
- Choudhary and BJP figures reject the charges as baseless, asserting the matter was adjudicated or led to acquittal in 1997–98, and allies have issued or threatened defamation action against Kishor.
- Kishor also accused JD(U) minister Ashok Choudhary of extracting a 5% commission on roughly Rs 20,000 crore of contracts and of unexplained property deals, claims the minister denies while pursuing defamation cases.
- Kishor disclosed he earned Rs 241 crore from consultancy in three years, paid GST and income tax, and donated about Rs 99 crore to Jan Suraaj, while rivals question his funding and call for evidence-based probes.
