Jaén Airport Reopens After More Than Two Years as First LATAM Flight Arrives

Regulatory clearance following runway repairs cleared the way for a phased return to service.

Overview

  • Corpac confirmed an inspection flight on October 29 and received the first commercial LATAM service on October 30 from Lima at 10:55 a.m., arriving in Jaén at 12:35 p.m.
  • Commercial operations will run three times per week through the rest of 2025, with daily flights planned starting January 2026.
  • The NOTAM for airport closure was lifted and required documentation was filed with the DGAC, allowing operations to resume.
  • Runway maintenance covered roughly 15,000 m² with stabilized bases, hot‑mix asphalt, geomesh and geotextiles, with investment reported at about S/3.5 million.
  • Corpac cited past contractual issues and unusually heavy rains as reasons for the prolonged shutdown, and said the airport is also ready to handle medical flights as connectivity with Lima returns.
