Jan. 6 Rioter Convicted of Plotting to Kill FBI Agents Investigating Him

Edward Kelley, already convicted for his role in the Capitol attack, faces life in prison after being found guilty of planning assassinations and attacks on federal investigators.

Edward Kelley, 35, was convicted in Tennessee of conspiracy to murder federal employees, solicitation of violence, and threatening a federal official.
Prosecutors revealed Kelley created a 'kill list' targeting 37 FBI agents and others involved in investigating his Capitol riot case.
Kelley and a co-conspirator planned to attack the FBI Knoxville office using car bombs and drones and discussed assassinating agents in their homes or public spaces.
Evidence presented at trial included recordings of Kelley urging his co-conspirators to carry out the attacks, stating 'every hit has to hurt.'
Kelley, previously convicted for assaulting officers during the Capitol riot, is set to be sentenced for both cases in April and May 2025, respectively.
