Overview

  • Authorities imposed a nightly shutdown of vehicle movement in Dharmari from 8 pm to 6 am until September 22, with exemptions for emergency, police and government relief vehicles and enforcement by SDPO Arnas through check posts.
  • The India Meteorological Department predicted moderate to intense rainfall across several Jammu districts through August 27 with the possibility of cloudbursts, flash floods and landslides in high-altitude areas.
  • All government and private schools across the Jammu division remained closed and will stay shut on August 26 due to the weather, the Directorate of School Education said.
  • Key routes faced major disruptions, including suspended heavy traffic on the JammuPathankot highway because of bridge damage at Logate Morh, a blockade on Dhar road near Dhoodhu bridge, a continued closure of Sinthan road, and landslides on stretches such as Reasi–Arnas and Thard near Balinallah where a petrol pump was crushed.
  • Rescuers saved four people from a flash flood in the Ravi near Shahpur Kandi in Kathua in an operation led by SSP Shobhit Saksena, and about 500 Mani-Mahesh pilgrims stranded in Bhaderwah were allowed to proceed to Chamba.
