Jammu and Kashmir Launches Dedicated Grievance Cell for Serving Soldiers

Featuring a structured performance dashboard with quarterly reports to the Lieutenant Governor, it ensures timely follow-up on soldier complaints.

Overview

  • The Lieutenant Governor sanctioned the LGSSK under Government Order No. 933-JK(GAD) on July 17 to provide a dedicated grievance redressal mechanism for serving soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces.
  • The centre began operations immediately from Civil Secretariat offices in Jammu and Srinagar, with the Information Technology Department providing two trained officials at each location along with necessary computer systems and allied hardware.
  • The Estates Department has allocated office accommodations at both secretariats, and three officers—Prasanna Ramaswamy G, Aflaq Ahmad and Abhimanyu Singh—have been nominated to oversee its operations in addition to their existing duties.
  • Functioning as a single-window cell, the LGSSK will receive soldier complaints, arrange district-level appointments with civil or police officials, follow up pending matters and maintain detailed case tracking.
  • A structured performance dashboard and quarterly reports to the Lieutenant Governor will monitor the centre’s progress and reinforce the administration’s commitment to timely soldier welfare support.
