Overview

• The Jammu and Kashmir government has appointed 20 senior officers, including 18 IAS, IPS, and IFS officials, as mentors for all districts in the Union Territory.
• The initiative, formalized through General Administration Department orders on May 8 and 9, 2025, aims to strengthen governance and inter-agency coordination.
• District mentors will oversee relief, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts, as well as ensure security at vital installations within their assigned regions.
• They are responsible for reviewing the availability of essential services such as drinking water, electricity, road connectivity, and essential commodities like food and fuel.
• Mentors are empowered to escalate unresolved administrative challenges to the Civil Secretariat and Chief Secretary for prompt resolution.
