Overview
- Jamie Oliver has asked Braintree District Council for permission to run a pop-up bakery from the former stable block at his Essex estate during August 2025.
- The bakery is proposed to operate daily from 9am to 5pm, serving an estimated 20–50 customers with baked goods, sandwiches and coffee.
- No internal or external alterations would be made to the Grade I listed building, and the plan calls for use of the existing kitchen, toilets, parking and a historic feeding trough as a counter.
- The scheme would employ six staff and require three HGV deliveries each week, with an overflow parking area identified behind the stable block.
- Spains Hall, built around 1570 and acquired by Oliver in 2019 for £6 million, remains under review by the council with no public comments registered to date.
