Overview
- Melham became just the second woman to win the Melbourne Cup and the first female jockey to achieve the Caulfield–Melbourne Cup double, a decade after Michelle Payne’s breakthrough.
 - Half Yours, trained by Tony and Calvin McEvoy, finished ahead of Goodie Two Shoes in second and Middle Earth in third at Flemington.
 - The race was run on a rain-affected track rated soft 5, with Half Yours the only Australian-bred horse in the 24-runner field.
 - Late betting swings pushed Presage Nocturne into favouritism before the jump but it finished 19th, while heavily backed Al Riffa ended up seventh.
 - An emotional Melham dedicated the victory to her late grandfather and shared a post-race moment with her husband, jockey Ben Melham.
