James Watkins to Direct DC’s ‘Clayface’ Movie, Set for 2026 Release

James Watkins, known for his work on 'Speak No Evil' and 'Eden Lake,' has been confirmed as the director for DC's upcoming 'Clayface' movie.
The film is based on a script by acclaimed horror writer-director Mike Flanagan and will reportedly have a $40 million budget.
The story will follow a B-movie actor who becomes a shape-shifting creature after using a substance to maintain his relevance, blending horror and tragedy.
Production is expected to begin later this year, with the movie scheduled for theatrical release on September 11, 2026.
Clayface marks DC’s first foray into the horror genre and will be produced by James Gunn, Peter Safran, Matt Reeves, and Lynn Harris.
