Comer cites Walz's efforts to secure federal funding for the Hormel Institute, which has partnerships with the Wuhan Institute of Virology and Beijing Genomics Institute.
Walz, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, has reportedly traveled to China 30 times and organized student trips partially sponsored by the Chinese government.
Comer is investigating Walz's teaching fellowship at Macau Polytechnic University, which supports China's Belt and Road Initiative.
The FBI has been asked to submit documents by September 19, but has so far declined to comment on the matter.
