Jalisco Launches 'Somos 26' Certification to Prepare Tourism for the 2026 World Cup

The program links training-based credentials to economic perks to drive higher service standards across the tourism sector.

Overview

  • State officials unveiled a four-module certification covering quality, inclusion, Jalisco-style hostmanship, and training to prevent sexual and labor exploitation of minors.
  • The Secretaría de Desarrollo Económico coordinates the effort with delivery roles split among the Secretaría de Turismo and the municipalities of Guadalajara and Zapopan.
  • Businesses must complete all modules and certify at least 70% of their staff by May 15, 2026 to obtain the insignia.
  • The call is open across Jalisco’s 125 municipalities with emphasis on hubs such as the Guadalajara metro area, Puerto Vallarta, Costa Alegre, the Ruta del Tequila, the Ribera de Chapala and the Pueblos Mágicos.
  • Eligible participants include hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, transport and entertainment providers, with benefits such as extra points in Sedeco support programs, public visibility and inclusion in promotion campaigns.
