Jal Shakti Ministry Forms CWC-Led Panel on Telangana–Andhra Water Management
A central review will yield technical recommendations to guide equitable sharing between the two states.
Overview
- The ministry constituted the body through an Office Memorandum approved by the Secretary of Jal Shakti.
- The Chairman of the Central Water Commission will lead the panel with members from KRMB, GRMB, NWDA and both state governments.
- Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will each be represented by four senior water officials, including the AP Special Chief Secretary and Telangana’s adviser on irrigation and water resources.
- The panel is tasked with a comprehensive technical review of outstanding water management issues and recommendations for equitable, efficient sharing.
- The committee must submit its report within three months of the order, following up on the Union minister’s July 16, 2025 meeting with both chief ministers.
