• India’s external affairs minister said the meeting covered bilateral relations, the war in Ukraine and developments in the Middle East.
• Both Jaishankar and the Russian embassy confirmed the discussion took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
• The engagement coincided with a visit to India by Russian deputy prime minister Dmitry Patrushev, reported as groundwork for President Putin’s scheduled December trip.
