Jaishankar Launches Weeklong Diplomatic Tour of France, EU and Belgium

Overview

  • Mr. Jaishankar began his seven-day itinerary in Paris and Marseille with bilateral talks alongside French Foreign Minister Jean Noel Barrot and participation in the inaugural Mediterranean Raisina Dialogue.
  • In Brussels, he is set to hold a strategic dialogue with EU High Representative Kaja Kallas and meet senior leadership from the European Commission and Parliament.
  • His meetings in Belgium will include bilateral consultations with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot to strengthen cooperation across trade, green energy, technology and pharmaceuticals.
  • The tour follows India’s Operation Sindoor, during which Jaishankar is expected to brief European counterparts on New Delhi’s firm approach to combating cross-border terrorism.
  • The mission lays groundwork for Prime Minister Modi’s attendance at the G7 summit in Canada and coincides with the 25th anniversary of the India-France strategic partnership.
