Overview
- Outside Parliament, Jairam Ramesh presented Rajnath Singh with Gujarati pages of Maniben Patel’s diary along with a Hindi translation, saying they do not support Singh’s statement about Jawaharlal Nehru and Babri Masjid funding.
- Ramesh identified the pages as appearing on 212–213 of the 2025 book Samarpit Padchhayo Sardarno by C.A.R.S. Patel ‘Aaresh’ and shared screenshots to bolster his rebuttal.
- Singh told Ramesh he does not read Gujarati and said the BJP already has an English version of the diary material.
- The BJP, through spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, cited Inside Story of Sardar Patel, Diary of Maniben Patel to maintain that Nehru raised the Babri question and Sardar Patel refused government expenditure for a mosque.
- The Congress has demanded an apology from Singh, calling his claim a falsehood, after he asserted last week in Vadodara that Nehru sought public funds to build the Babri Masjid and Patel stopped it.
