Jailed MP Engineer Rashid Seeks Bail to Attend Parliament

Engineer Rashid, MP from Baramulla and head of the Awami Ittehad Party, is in judicial custody over a terror funding case investigated by the NIA.
Rashid filed for interim bail in Delhi's Patiala House Court, citing his responsibilities as an elected representative to attend the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament.
The court has asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to respond to the bail plea, with a hearing scheduled for November 27.
Rashid was arrested in 2019 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act but won his parliamentary seat in 2024 while in jail, defeating former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
The case involves allegations of terror funding linked to militant organizations and separatist activities in Jammu and Kashmir, with charges framed against Rashid and other prominent figures.
