Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence Progressing After Ankle Injury, Might Play Sunday

Lawrence's recovery is being closely watched as the Jaguars lead the AFC South and are preparing for a deep postseason run.

  • Trevor Lawrence, the quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars, is making progress after sustaining a high ankle sprain against Cincinnati, raising hopes he might play at Cleveland on Sunday.
  • Lawrence injured his right ankle when left tackle Walker Little stepped on him during Monday night's game, and while X-rays were negative, he was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain that could take weeks to fully heal.
  • Despite the injury, Lawrence has been performing well recently, becoming the first player in franchise history to have at least one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown in three consecutive weeks.
  • If Lawrence is unable to play, C.J. Beathard would make his 13th NFL start and first since 2020 with San Francisco. Beathard, however, was limited in practice Wednesday because of an injury to his non-throwing shoulder.
  • Lawrence's decision to walk off the field after his injury, instead of using a cart, was his own and not due to a lack of available carts.
