Jacksonville Jaguars General Manager Trent Baalke has expressed concern over the number of injuries sustained by quarterback Trevor Lawrence during the 2023 season, stating the team needs to do a better job protecting him.
Despite a disappointing season, Baalke confirmed that both Lawrence and linebacker Josh Allen are part of the team's long-term plans.
Lawrence, who was the top pick in the 2021 draft, missed several games and practice sessions due to various injuries, contributing to the team's late-season collapse.
Josh Allen, who set a franchise record with 17.5 sacks in the 2023 season, is due to become a free agent but Baalke is confident a deal will be reached to keep him with the Jaguars.
Baalke also indicated that wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who had a productive 2023 season after a year and a half suspension, is a player the team would like to bring back, although it's not a certainty.
