Overview
- A recent boat accident left multiple fishermen missing and one survivor, and YSR Congress Party president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy travelled to Visakhapatnam to meet bereaved families and the lone survivor, Kari Chinna.
- The YSRCP says Mr. Jagan immediately directed party leaders to stay with affected families, provide assistance and closely monitor rescue and relief operations after the accident was reported.
- During his visit he demanded ₹1 crore in compensation for each family of the six fishermen who died and called for new fishing boats to restore livelihoods, criticizing the state government’s response and its ₹10 lakh payout.
- The party release set out concrete travel plans for the visit, saying Mr. Jagan left Tadepalli in the morning, met families at Jabbar Thota and the survivor, and returned to Tadepalli later the same day.
- YSRCP leaders say Mr. Jagan is reviewing the case and pursuing measures to ensure justice and continued support for victims’ families, a stance that increases political pressure on the state over rescue, relief and compensation policy.
