• Her death on Oct. 12 at her Atlanta home followed a four-month battle with endometrial cancer, according to friend and fellow casting director Gail Goldberg.
• Burch’s four-decade career included collaborations with John Hughes and John Landis and key work on Predator, Coming to America, Mask and Dick Tracy.
• She was credited with helping launch Bruce Willis in Die Hard and with being instrumental in casting Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber.
• In later years she led local or additional casting for major franchises including Iron Man 3, The Hunger Games, Ant-Man and served as Southeast casting director on Hidden Figures.
• Her honors included a 2015 Emmy nomination for Bessie and a 2017 Artios Award for Hidden Figures, and survivors include daughters Samy and Molly Burch, twin sister Janice Papolos, with a Los Angeles memorial planned and donations suggested to the National Association of the Deaf; her final film, This Is the One They’ll Remember Me By, is slated for release in 2026.
