- Jack Preston, 34, appeared from custody at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on 4 March, was not asked to enter pleas, and was remanded until a 6 March hearing at Nottingham Crown Court.
- He is charged with murder, assault by beating of an emergency worker, and a public order offence, with the latter counts relating to an alleged kick on a police officer and verbal abuse.
- Police identified the victim as 24-year-old Coel Tainton, who was found with a fatal gunshot wound at a Ryeland Gardens property shortly after 5:30am on 28 February.
- Officers recovered a shotgun within minutes of arriving, and a forensic tent and searches continued near Sheriffs Way as investigators examined the scene.
- Tainton’s family paid tribute to him as loving, caring, and generous, while police said the incident is believed to be isolated and urged anyone with information to contact 101 or Crimestoppers.
