Jaafari, Bottarelli Win Italian Half Titles as Rome Record Falls and Battocletti Takes Trieste 10K

The Cremona results feed into the penultimate club championship stage before the 10 km finale in Prato on 2 November.

  • In Cremona, Badr Jaafari claimed the men’s national crown in 1:01:48 and Sara Bottarelli won the women’s title in a 1:11:46 personal best at the Italian Half Marathon Championships.
  • The championships doubled as the third stage of the road running club series and drew roughly 1,300 entrants, with Ahmed Ouhda (1:02:14) and Alberto Mondazzi (1:02:15) on the men’s podium and Anna Arnaudo second in 1:12:50.
  • The overall Half Marathon Cremona was won by Burundi’s Egide Ntakarutimana in a 1:01:32 event record and Eritrea’s Rahel Daniel in 1:10:27, with Nekagenet Crippa and Nicole Reina not finishing.
  • In Rome, Kenya’s Simon Maywa set a 59:44 men’s course best and Regina Cheptoo won in 1:08:26, as 18,540 starters lined up from more than 22,000 registrations with about 72% from abroad; Sofiia Yaremchuk placed fifth in 1:11:01 and Lorenzo Martelli was top Italian man.
  • In Trieste, Nadia Battocletti won the Corsa dei Castelli 10 km in 32:52 and South Africa’s Maxim Chaumeton ran 27:50 for a record on the new route, with roughly 4,000 participants and Italy sweeping the U23 road match.
