Overview

  • IWAI authorised four new jetties on Assam’s waterways at Silghat, Bishwanath Ghat, Guijan and Neamati to improve cargo and passenger connections.
  • A Regional Centre of Excellence in Bogibeel, Dibrugarh will train up to 5,396 participants under certified programmes aligned with the Inland Vessels Act.
  • The authority commissioned a detailed project report for a ship repair facility on National Waterway-1 at Patna, entrusting NTCPWC and IIT Madras with its development plan.
  • Just over 2,150 sq metres of Fancy Bazar land in Guwahati was approved for transformation into an IWAI regional office and maritime skill centre via IPRCL.
  • Board members also founded an Indian Waterway Congress to adopt global best practices and approved a cadre review to restructure IWAI for future expansion.
