ITV Sets One-Off 'Corriedale' Crossover of Coronation Street and Emmerdale for Jan. 5

ITV is using the cinematic special to introduce nightly 30-minute episodes, keeping it off ITVX for an appointment-to-view debut.

Overview

  • Corriedale airs Monday, January 5 at 8pm on ITV1 as a single-hour event and will not be released early on ITVX, though regular half-hour episodes are available to stream from 7am that day.
  • Iain MacLeod, ITV’s continuing drama chief, says the crossover is a one-off celebration of the new schedule with no plans to repeat the format.
  • The episode unites characters from Weatherfield and Hotten after a catastrophic multi-vehicle pile-up, serving as a self-contained story with future repercussions within each soap.
  • Production spanned six to eight weeks with extensive night shoots and 14 nights dedicated to the crash sequence, relying on stunt drivers and a 40-strong combined cast.
  • From January, ITV moves to half-hour weeknight installments with Emmerdale at 8pm and Coronation Street at 8:30pm, a shift aimed at viewers increasingly watching on ITVX.
