ITIA Launches Pilot Aid for Players Facing Doping or Corruption Probes

The trial seeks to ease burdens triggered by recent high-profile cases that questioned equitable access.

Jannik Sinner was banned for three months earlier in 2025 for a doping violation

Overview

  • Effective immediately, the time-limited program will be reviewed at the end of 2026.
  • Players with an adverse analytical finding can access up to $5,000 for WADA-accredited testing of supplements or medicines, or to investigate possible meat contamination.
  • Sport Resolutions will now offer pro bono legal support from the first positive test rather than only after formal charges.
  • Confidential wellbeing support includes six sessions via Sporting Chance for individuals under anti-doping or anti-corruption investigation.
  • The initiative follows scrutiny after cases involving Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek, and the ITIA said Sinner’s coach Umberto Ferrara faces no restrictions while confirming Lleyton Hewitt did not appeal his two-week suspension and fine.
