Overview
- Refund outlays rose by more than €2 billion from 2024, an 8.5% increase according to data through 24 December.
- VAT repayments surpassed €20.8 billion for VAT-registered firms, artisans and professionals.
- Direct-tax refunds totaled about €5.3 billion, including €3.5 billion of IRPEF to households and €1.8 billion of IRES to companies.
- More than 4.1 million payments were completed, up over 5% year over year, including nearly 4 million IRPEF refunds and 102,000 VAT cases.
- Of the IRPEF amounts, €1.8 billion was paid directly to almost 2.4 million taxpayers who filed the 730 by late September without a payroll intermediary.
