Italy Unveils Stamp Marking Corriere dello Sport’s Centenary

Part of the Made in Italy excellence series, the IPZS design reprises the daily’s 1982 World Cup front page.

Overview

  • The commemorative issue was presented on September 30 at Rome’s Palazzo Piacentini in a ceremony led by Minister Adolfo Urso.
  • Ivan Zazzaroni, Flavia Scarpellini of the state mint and printing institute, and Poste Italiane philately chief Giovanni Machetti attended the unveiling.
  • The stamp carries tariff indication “B,” was designed by the IPZS Centro Filatelico, and has a print run of 250,020 copies.
  • Urso called the issue a due recognition of a century of sporting and journalistic history, noting stamps as witnesses to national memory.
  • The stamp and related products, including postcards, cards and illustrated bulletins, are available at philatelic post offices, Spazio Filatelia locations, and on Poste Italiane’s website.
